2001: Luncheons, Email, News, Email, a Spoof, and more Email
By Michael C. Gilbert, Jan. 2002
2001 was a remarkable year.
We have entered a recession that affects most nations. Violence has escalated to a new level worldwide. Nonprofit organizations are facing the continuing changes of the sector, on top of new challenges to their financial health and their freedom of speech.
At the same time, the changes that have been building in the infrastructure of the nonprofit sector are starting to mature. There is a growing appreciation among funders for organizational effectiveness. Nonprofits are starting to seize control of the technology agenda.
At The Gilbert Center, we have been working to support the people and programs who are leading the way through these times, and perhaps to help shed a little light along the way.
In 2001 we:
We have projects that will come to fruition, projects that will grow, and new projects that will take shape in the coming months. We hope you find them useful and we look forward to enrolling you in them.
We have many people to thank for making 2001 an amazing year for us: The producers of all the fantastic content to which we directed people at Nonprofit Online News. The consultants and organizations who are devoting themselves to the Nonprofit Email Study. The leaders who attended our luncheons and are helping to shape the future of nonprofit technology.
A special thanks to our financial supporters, who demonstrated the genuine viability of commercial free nonprofit content on the Web.
Happy New Year to you!
