The Netsquared conference participants chose three of the 21 featured projects for the top awards at the conference. You can find out a lot about the winners - MapLight, Mirao, and Freecycle - at the Netsquared Blog, where you'll also find their "elevator pitches", recordings of their introductory presentations, and lots of other thoughtful commentary on both the projects and the Netsquared process. I had some initial concerns that they were emphasizing "innovation" without having a clear definition, but in the end they offered these three guidelines to the people voting: (1) What projects are the most likely to take off and succeed? (2) What projects will achieve the greatest impact? (3) What projects will be best leveraged by the social change community?
