Dan Gilmore's 10 Choices that were Critical to the Net's Success is an example of good thinking that can still be applied to the creation of new networks on top of the Internet. In particular, nonprofits and funders who support centralization and control in online information or service projects should take heed that this was not how the Internet itself succeeded.
Darlene Siska describes how some nonprofits are using email newsletters. I'm particularly pleased with her opening description of the innovative ChecNet newsletter, which delivers timely, personalized environmental health information to mothers of newborns.
