Dan Gillmor thinks the AOL Time Warner merger is not a good deal for consumers (1/10/2000). In the long run, it is the alternative voices in our society, often represented by nonprofits (rather than business), who will suffer as a result of the amalgamation of distribution systems and content providers.

We did a study on the interactivity of nonprofit sites at the Nonprofit SiteAnalyzer, but our measurement of interactivity was very crude. Now kenney, Gorelik, and Mwangi have developed a set of 18 measures for use in their paper on Interactive Features of Online Newspapers.
